Primary!!! (From 10/12/14)

I got to teach the Primary yesterday! It was way fun. We talked about the importance of going to the temple and the things we need to do in order to get there. We played a game where we try and think of the things a family needs to do in order to get to the temple and they did really well the family made it.

Elder Sip and Elder Keck at the Quelimane Airport for transfers

I put Elder Sip on a plane at the Quelimane Airport and two minutes later got my new companion this week. (They try to work it out that one leaves and the new companion arrives at about the same time.  I would stay with a member if it would take a while.)  My new companion’s name is Elder Coelho, and he is from Sao Paulo Brazil and he is way nice. I really like Elder Coelho.  He is really easy going and fun to be with.  We get along really well and he is a hard worker so we are hoping to see some miracles this transfer.

One of the miracles we are working on is a baptism for this transfer. We realized yesterday that there are 30 people that come to this church over the age of 8 that are not baptized. [Nate said in an email on September 15th that they had two investigators when he first got to Quelimane.]  We are working on teaching them all so we can baptize all 30 of them on the same day. It will be hard but it’s possible. I also learned how to play Come Come Ye Saints, and Come Ye Children of the Lord on the piano last night while Elder Coelho was sick. So thats pretty cool.  I pretty much go to bed tired and wake up tired every day. Love you all.

September 29, 2014 – Last week of the transfer

I can’t believe the transfer is almost done. We are really hoping that this week will be a lot better than our last one. We only got two work days because of the zone conference. We left for Beira on thursday. Had zone conference on friday and flew home saturday. The zone conference was really good though. We learned about the first 3 habits of being a highly effective person. It’s really nice because our mission president is the CEO of FranklinCovey [Brazil] and so he gets access to all these really cool training videos produced by the company, so we always get to watch those. After the conference all the outside areas had personal interviews with President Kretly and mine was good. After that Elder SIp and I went and visitedd 2 of the families he baptized when he worked down in Beira. They were both really nice and it was a lot of fun. Then when we got back on Saturday we found out that the members we left the keys to the chapel with, slept in the chapel while we were gone, which is really unallowed. They also used all of our energry and ate all of me and Elder Sip’s food. We had to yell at them because we had to go buy energy on Sunday during church. Speaking of church I also got surprised by having to teach gospel doctrine. I taught about how we can maintain zion. So we read in Isaiah and it was really hard to teach them. So yeah thats my week. We are hoping that this week will be a lot better. Elias is getting baptized this Saturday so that will be really nice. Love you all.

P.S. It seems like I’ve been asked this many times. It is just Elder Sip and I in Quelimane. The closest missionaries to us are over 300 miles away.

September 22, 2014

I really don’t have anything exciting to share this week. It was our first and probably only normal work week for the transfer because this week we are in Beira for half the week doing a zone conference. One thing really exciting that happened this week is that we found a new family called Soriar and Juina who have a 7 year old daughter named Juicela and another one thats 4 named Angela. They are a really nice family and we are gonna continue working with them this week. As for Pablo and Zainabu we have to postpone the wedding again because he bought real gold and shipped it to holand to get rings made and he wants to wait until the rings come back from Holland from before they get married and baptized so we are just waiting on those.now. We don’t know when they will be getting married but it should be within this next month. We have this young 21 year old named Elias that we are teaching who is literally a zealot. He introduced us to his brother and we sat down to teach him but then it turned into Elder Sip and I sitting for an hour and a half on the cement floor while Elias preached to his brother. He really wants to be a missionary and go to the temple but he doesn’t accept that he has to wait a year until after he is baptized. He just keeps saying that with god anything is possible and doesnt believe that this standard came from god. So Its been weird. And then yesterday I had to teach the Youth Sunday school class about how we inspire people to obey commandments and that was really difficult but I think it turned out to be a good lesson. hopefully they all liked it. I will let everyone know how Zone conference this week was. I don’t have much more news. Love you all.

September 15, 2014 – Already halfway through this transfer

So this transfer has been flying by except for this past week which felt like a long one because we got stuck in the house for most of it with our plumber again. But he finally finished everything on Tuesday. But then Elder SIp got really bad Diahrea and we didn’t get to leave the house until Thursday night. So that sucked but it ended up being a good week, We got to visit with Pablo and Zainabu who will now be baptized this saturday because the Branch President was gone this past weekend and he couldn’t perform the wedding. So now that will be happening which is exciting. One cool thing that happened this week is while we were out contacting a jovem came up to me and told me he’d like to come to church. We’d been struggling finding new people because we haven’t been able to leave the house so we agreed to visit him. We went there and taught him the restoration which was really good. Then we taught him the book of mormon and he accepted Baptism and he came to church yesterday which was really cool. He wants to serve a mission as soon as possible and so we are gonna try and baptize him and get him preparing right away. So he can leave in a year. Anyways thats everything from me. Love you all.
